Edward Dwurnik's exhibition in Warsaw: art and history of the Polish People's Republic

The exhibition "Edward Dwurnik: Portrait from Nature" is now behind us! Over the past few weeks, the Edward Dwurnik Foundation in Warsaw has become a place where art meets history and emotions captured in paintings from the 1970s and 1980s. The works of this outstanding painter showed Poland during the Polish People's Republic and portrayed everyday life in those years through the series: "Moment", "Sportsmen", "Hitchhiking" and "Workers".

A key element of the exhibition was also the collaboration between Dwurnik and Andrzej Szczygieł, the effects of which could be admired during film screenings. There was also no shortage of previously unknown photographs by Teresa Gierzyńska, which artistically showed the backstage and details of Dwurnik's work.

Organized to mark the artist's birthday, the exhibition became an opportunity to commemorate his birthday, which falls on April 19. Edward Dwurnik left behind a rich body of work – nearly five thousand paintings, which are worth looking at at least once in your life, to understand the way he saw the world.

Although the exhibition has come to an end, its interdisciplinary nature and depth will remain in the memory of viewers for a long time. Good news – the Edward Dwurnik Foundation is still organizing artistic events, to which we cordially invite you! By engaging in the sphere of art, you can discover not only new faces of the city, but also yourself. We encourage you to follow the next exhibitions and events that the Foundation will have on offer. Maybe it is in this space that you will find inspiration for your own journey through art.
